About the Learning Lab
The first Gender Justice Lab of 2026 marks an important moment in ILC’s celebration of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralism (IYRP) and the Mobility Matters campaign.
This session highlights why a gender perspective is essential in advancing the rights of pastoralist peoples. Across regions, ILC members are actively contributing to the IYRP through advocacy, learning, and collective action that places pastoralist women at the centre.
In December 2025, ILC members from Asia working on pastoralism came together for the Asia Pastoralist Women’s Gathering, where participants also relaunched the Mera Declaration. Building on this momentum, throughout 2026 ILC members will continue to organise events, advocacy actions, and campaigns across regions to promote pastoralists’ rights, ensuring gender equality is embedded and advanced.
This Gender Justice Lab is an opportunity to learn from these experiences, connect regional perspectives, and explore what comes next.
