In many countries around the world, land rights and tenure security are not equally distributed between men and women. In collaboration with its partners, the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) has therefore worked on the elaboration of the Gender Evaluation Criteria (GEC). The GEC have now been used by ADHD in Togo, not only as a framework by which to evaluate laws, but also as a means of awareness raising amongst local populations, customary chiefs, as well as focal points on gender issues in the 27 Togolese ministries.
